We’re Making a Mess!

If you haven’t heard there are some big changes in store for Breakfast Banter. Thankfully you won’t have to wait too long as we’re going to start rolling out the new goodies on Sunday.

But in the meantime, we’re making a huge mess of the site. So we’re going to be switching over to maintenance mode for a few days. Don’t worry, we’ll be back. Promise.

In the meantime, I figured I would share a little snippet of Addie’s recent mess. And you know, making a mess is exhausting, so we might try and sneak in a nap too.

See you on Sunday!

SUNDAY BRUNCH: DW Bistro

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to live in a city with SO many dining options. Whether you’re in the mood for upscale Italian or casual chic Jamaican cuisine you’re in luck. Vegas is a complete hodgepodge of celebrity chef restaurants and local gems. So when Mother came to visit for the weekend we knew we had to really take advantage of our variety of choices.

We’ll be sure to recap our excellent experiences at Due Forni and The Barrymore shortly, but a standby that never disappoints is the Sunday Brunch at DW Bistro. You know when you show up before they’re open and the line has all ready started it is going to be good. Of course it didn’t hurt that we’re having an absolutely gorgeous weather weekend.

So after warm coffee, fresh fruit, huckelberry french toast and island mints my Sunday is off to an amazing start. And don’t worry…we’re t-minus 7 days to the new blog re-launch, so things are about to get all sorts of crazy up here.

Keep your eyes peeled, there are some big changes on the horizon.

Until tomorrow!

SUNDAY BRUNCH: Pumpkin Pie

I try not to eat dessert for breakfast on a regular basis. Not because I don’t want to, that’s definitely not the reason. But when I go home to visit my Mimi and there is a fresh pumpkin pie …well, all resolve goes out the window.

So today there isn’t a recipe or any fancy schmancy pictures. Today there is just me and my pie, and my Mimi of course. We hope you have a chance to visit with your loved ones this weekend, either over breakfast, a phone call or maybe you’re extra motivated and you’ll write a “real” note and mail it to them. Bonus points for the note.

I’ll be here… snagging a few extra pieces of breakfast pie before the long drive home.

Until tomorrow!

LOVE FEST FRIDAY: Coffee Table Books

I love books. This isn’t just a one Friday Fest, this is more of a constant state of adoration.

Really, there are very few books I would discriminate against, particularly when it comes to coffee table books. Of course I love my share of adventure, mystery and intrigue, but when you have a book whos purpose is visual stimulation for those days when your mind can’t handle words…that’s brilliance.

If I could pile books around my house without protest from the better half my coffee table would be overflowing with these treasures, and my floors, and shelves, and nightstand, and pot shelves….you get the picture.

The Grown Ups Table

Almost five years and countless meals squished into a too-small table later we FINALLY bought ourselves a “Grown Ups” Table. Finally. Thank the Lord.

Of course we only took the plunge because we snagged this puppy at West Elm for only $250! I know, crazy right? Let’s not talk about the chairs…also from West Elm.

So to all the friends and family that suffered through meals (albeit tasty ones) crammed into our kitchen nook, this one’s for you. Added bonus: now we actually get to use the parlor. Genius.

SUNDAY BRUNCH: Fresh Fruit

B1

We don’t typically move very fast on Sunday mornings around here. Sundays are for simmering, thinking, sleeping, reflecting and recovering from the previous five days. But since there isn’t an eighth day in the week, every now and then we have to “handle business” on our normally peaceful Sunday.

Today was one of those days … and with the promise of bagels we were out the door early to help move around offices at my lovely day job. Before we left we had just enough time for a quick cup of coffee and some fresh fruit. You know what? The tangelos were so delicious I didn’t even notice the lack of meat or carbohydrates or sugary goodness that’s usually a part of our routine.

As a side note we got everything moved okay. No major damage and the new digs promise to be amazing. Then we spent five hours making pizza dough…and it was worth every minute.

I hope your Sunday was as productive and tasty.

Until tomorrow!

LOVE FEST FRIDAY: Tabletop

I’ve recovered from my early morning rant, thank goodness. Apparently pizza really can make anything better. Supposedly sleep can too, but I’m not there yet.

So on with our regularly scheduled programming…today we bring you Love Fest Friday, Tabletop Edition. In honor of our recently accomplished resolution (We FINALLY bought a dining room table, four years later, Crazy! Don’t worry, we’ll have some photo love soon) we’re now all a flutter for the perfect accent piece to go on top. These are our top six options.

LFF TableTop

1. Birch Vase from Woodland Gems 2. Concrete Bowl from atstuart  3. Wine Tray from ArtDesigned 4. Adorable Mismatched White Vases from HappyGoVintage 5. Vintage Hungarian Mason Jars from Restoration Hardware 6. Wooden Ombre Vases from West Elm

Style is a bit all over the board, but I absolutely love the thought of a long line of vases or jars down the middle of the table. What about you? Any genius table-scaping out there?

Until tomorrow!

Where in the World…

We interrupt this regularly scheduled “Love Fest Friday” to inform you that I am still, indeed, alive. I know there were some serious doubters out there, but really I’m working on a new rendition of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego.

Don’t you think it is abnoxious when someone rambles on about how quick this week has flown by, particularly when you’ve had the last seven days from hades? Well, roll up your sleeves and get ready for a huge pile of annoying because I literally don’t know where this week has gone!

Between events, work, blog revamping (That’s right, you can’t see it but I have been around) and occasionlly stopping to eat I feel like I lost seven days of my life. And to top it all off I get rear ended on my way to the Top Shop Las Vegas Grand Opening. Fail.

So we’ll be back this evening with our typical love fest. In the meantime, pick a country and play along. I have a feeling this day is going to be a ton of the same.

Oh, and because I love you I’ve included a quick snap of my major rummage sale score from last weekend.  Woot!
